View of Hantsport large

This is the view from the bedroom window of Robert’s room in his parents’ Hantsport home, where he spent time while recovering from his cancer treatment. The foreground shows a field dotted with tree stumps, the last remnants of an apple orchard planted 50 years earlier. In the far distance is a view of Cape Blomidon and the Minas Basin. In the middle ground are the two factories at the mouth of the Avon River, Canadian Keyes Fibres and Minas Basin Pulp and Paper. Robert was fascinated by the juxtaposition of nature and industry and the complexity of the panorama with its suggestion of past and present.
