A big splash of water adds excitement to summer fun at the beach, with just a hint of danger and mystery. In this colour study, Robert experiments with a masking medium for the splash, rubbed off after the layers of paint for water and sky have fully dried. Robert drew inspiration from David Hockney’s Pop Art painting, A Bigger Splash, 1967, though he’s altered the locale and meaning of the original.
