Living in Fear

Living in Fear large

This drawing is selected from several pages of similar cold war themes, all treated in a cartoon style. As the nuclear bomb explodes on the screen of the TV, the figure of the watching man becomes increasingly indistinct until he finally disappears altogether. The man with the bald head is Robert’s father William, who the artist pictures as an passive consumer of news. The TV literally fills his head. Interestingly, the bomb goes off, the person disappears, but the TV remains, ubiquitous and unceasing.
