An absurd totem, a ludicrous sentinel, this comic juxtaposition of goat and car lightens the mood of the “Accident” series. There is a sense of displacement here, but is it the car or the goat that has gone astray on this brief foray into the country? Robert started drawing goats for a group show at Studio 21 on the theme of fairy tales. While searching through reference images of goats, Robert noticed that goats were gifted climbers and often found themselves on top of unlikely places, buildings and structures. Robert was working on a series on cars at this time, and so he put goat and car together.
