A naked man lies on a slab, half covered by a blanket or shroud. He could be a body in a morgue, except that a large machine hovers over him aiming down like a large cannon. A laser crossbeam links body and instrument. The vulnerability of the man is contrasted with the power of technology. Robert did very few images of patients, by themselves, without a symbolic connection to nature or to other supportive people in their lives. The two exceptions are Radiation and Chemotherapy, images which show patients facing treatments.
